Flags of Our Fathers

(USA, 2006, 132 minutes)

The true story of the soldiers who raised the American flag on Mount Suribachi in the island of Iwo Jima in 1944 after one of the bloodiest battles of WWII only to find themselves shipped back to the US to be cheered as heroes. Thoughtful, powerful war melodrama that, despite classy handling and excellent performances, never seems to find its rhythm.

Starring Ryan Phillippe, Jesse Bradford, Adam Beach, John Benjamin Hickey, John Slattery, Barry Pepper, Jamie Bell, Paul Walker.
