Zazie dans le métro

(France, 1960, 89 minutes)

A young girl spends a madcap day in Paris trying to avoid the grown-ups who swarm around her. Dizzying exercise in nonsensical slapstick that spins around like an endlessly inventive live-action cartoon and must have seemed very alien at its time of release.

A Pyramide Distribution release of a Nouvelles Éditions de Films production. Starring Vittorio Caprioli, Yvonne Clech, Hubert Deschamps, Jacques Dufilho, Annie Fratellini, Carla Marlier, Philippe Noiret, Antoine Roblot, Odette Picquet, Nicolas Bataille; and Catherine Demongeot. Directed by Louis Malle; screenplay by Louis Malle and Jean-Paul Rappeneau, based on the novel by Raymond Queneau, Zazie dans le métro; music by Fiorenzo Carpi; director of photography (Eastmancolor), Henri Raichi; production designer, Bernard Evein; costume designer, Marc Doelnitz; film editor, Kenout Peltier.
