District 9

(New Zealand/South Africa/USA, 2009, 108 minutes)

Twenty years after a broken-down spaceship has come to a standstill above Johannesburg, the alien population has been corralled inside a suburban slum by a racist, abusive population, and a cowardly bureaucrat finds himself at the flashpoint of alien-human relationships. Smart, propulsive B-level sci-fi thriller with a small budget and big ideas.
