Sherlock Holmes

(USA/Germany, 2009, 123 minutes)

Victorian detective Sherlock Holmes must summon all his extraordinary powers of deduction to crack the case of an occultist nobleman who has apparently returned from the dead. Rather ill-advised attempt at turning a much-loved character into an action hero palatable to contemporary audiences; the result is still enjoyable thanks to the excellent cast and the impeccable production values.
