AMINTIRI DIN EPOCA DE AUR

Tales from the Golden Age
Romania
2009
varying lengths (full six-episode length 155 minutes)

Absurdist tales of life in Romania under the Ceaucescu regime. Darkly satirical compendium that encapsulates the strengths and weaknesses of the “new wave” of Romanian cinema in a series of smart, bittersweet shorts that fit well together. The full, 155-minute version comprises six episodes, but at the film's premiere at Cannes 2009 the various screenings included a rotating selection of five of the six episodes, and many countries released the film in varying sequences of episodes; also, by design there are no individual credits for each episode, with all crew being credited grouped together.
