ROBIN HOOD

141 minutes

After the death of Richard the Lionheart in France in 1199, an archer in his army delivers his crown back to England by passing as a dead knight, but ends up standing up for his country when one of king John's advisors turns out to be in league with the French. “Revisionist” retelling of an old chestnut as a dourly realistic, brisk “origin story” that manages to work in successfully most of the tale's characters but, despite smart storytelling and solid performances, never soars as it should.
