In 1983 New Mexico, a lonely, bullied schoolboy finds comfort and friendship in his new teenage neighbour — a lonely girl who only comes out at night and turns out to be a vampire. Faithful American translation of a fondly remembered Swedish original, retaining both the well-observed portrait of adolescence with the stylish, subdued approach to horror movie conventions of the original; but, despite (or maybe because of) the obvious reverence and respect for the original, it's a somewhat pointless exercise.
